Martz
Magnificent in New Egypt Modifieds
New Egypt, NJ
(June 28, 2008) –
Sam Martz of
Whitehouse Station, NJ won his first event of the season Saturday
night as he captured the 30 lap Modified feature at New Egypt
Speedway. Martz led wire to wire to take the checkered in the non-stop
event sponsored by K&A Excavating and Agin Signs.

"We
have had some really bad luck lately," stated an exuberant Martz
in victory lane, "Maybe this will turn things around for us
again!”
Martz
started on the outside pole and immediately grabbed the lead at the
onset. Martz set a fast pace early as the last two winners, Frank
Cozze and Keith Hoffman moved quickly into the top ten. Although Martz
never dominated, he drove a flawless race hitting his marks on every
single lap as he led all 30 laps. The field seemed very even on this
night, as Martz only lapped one car during the non-stop event, and
that was with 5 laps to go. This is even more impressive considering
that 22 of the 25 cars that started finished the event. Modified
Rookie Bill Paulmenn impressed all in attendance as he held off tad
Cox to record his best finish ever at NES with a second. Cox came home
third, with former winner Dominick Buffalino fourth and Brian Godown
fifth.

In
the Advantage Financial/Cradle Rock Developers Rookie Sportsman
series, Andy Visinski has turned it on late in the series as he won
for the second straight week. Two-time winner Gabe Fox tried
everything he could think of but could not complete the pass for the
win. Fox however, may have lost the battle, but won the war as he
became the 12th driver in NES history to be able to be called
“Rookie Champion.” Kevin Vaclavicek finished right behind Fox in
third, followed by Bobby Sandt Jr. and Chris Allen Jr.

In
the Sportsman division John Romano, Jr. of New Egypt, NJ won his third
event of the season, as he slipped past Frank Cozze Jr. with just 2
laps to go. Romano picked up a $300 bonus from Rick Agin of Agin
Signs, tonights sponsor. Cozze settled for his best finish to date,
taking second. Clay Butler crossed the line in third, followed
by Gary Butler and point leader Willie Osmun.
The
first ever appearance at NES for the Tobias SpeedSTRs saw Modified
standout Billy Pauch do what he does best to take the inaugural event.
Nick Pecko finished a strong second ahead of Toby Tobias Jr.
Billy VanInwegen was fourth and Jim Scherer finished fifth.

The
Super Stocks ran two features tonight, making up their postponed
feature from May 3rd before running their regularly scheduled feature
event. George Quinlan won the make up feature, his first of the
year, chased across the line by Kory Fleming, Rob Ormsbee, Billy Bauer
and Tod Cray. Mr. Super Stock 2008 Bob Vaccaro took the nightcap
over Bauer, Cray, Fleming and Kenny Hammond.

Art
Liedl of Flemington, NJ took the 15 lap SS Sprint feature as he
outpaced Ed Hughes and Rick Cozze.
Next
