& Grasso Share New Egypt Limelight
New Egypt, NJ
(June 21, 2008) –
Keith Hoffman of Whitehall, PA won his second event of the season
Saturday night as he captured the 30 lap Modified feature at New Egypt
Speedway. Hoffman withstood the constant challenges of last week’s
winner Frank Cozze to take top honors on C&M Auto Parts Night.
"This was my kind of race track tonight," Hoffman exclaimed
in victory lane, "The track took rubber and slicked over during
the URC feature and that just played right into our hands."

Hoffman
wasted no time getting to the front from his sixth starting spot,
grabbing the lead just 5 laps into the event. Tim Tanner, Jr. was also
on the move early on, moving into second just on lap later from his
tenth starting slot. These two drivers opened up a comfortable
advantage on the rest of the field before a lap ten caution slowed the
field. On the restart Cozze grabbed third and made it a three
car battle for the lead. Cozze finally wrestled the runner-up spot
from tanner just after halfway, and the stage was set for a real
showdown between these two former champions. Although Cozze stayed
close and applied consistent pressure, he did not have enough for
Hoffman on this night as Keith went on to win by 4 car lengths. Cozze
continued his hot streak as he came home second. The battle everyone
was watching over the final laps was for third between Tanner and Ron
John Koczon. Koczon got the spot on the final lap after the two traded
it on several occasions. Tanner settled for a hard earned fourth while
Billy Pauch Jr. raced home fifth.

J.J.
Grasso of Pedricktown, NJ claimed the third win of his young career in
the Rislone URC Sprint Series 25 lap feature event, his second of
2008. All three of Grasso’s wins have come here at New Egypt
Speedway, as he has now won 3 of the last 4 events held here at NES.
Grasso started in fifth position, and charged by pole sitter and
leader Chris Coyle on lap 8 to take the lead. Coyle dropped back to
third, then made an apparent wing adjustment and flew back to
challenge leader Grasso in lapped traffic. Coyle took the lead back on
lap 18, only to watch Grasso fly back under him the following lap. The
only yellow of the event flew with just 2 laps remaining when Coyle
spun in turn two. This put former NES Modified standout Mark Bitner in
second, but Grasso proved he was up to the challenge as he took the
checkered just one car length in front of Bitner. Curt Michael came
from 8th starting spot to finish an impressive third, followed by
Davey Sammons and Joey Biasi.

In
the Sportsman division John Stangle of Neshanic, NJ won his first
career feature event at NES, holding off point leader Willie Osmun.
Donnie Kline was third ahead 16th and 17th starters Gary Butler and
Rocco Infante.

The
Crate-1 Sportsman feature saw Richie Cass Sr. win for the third
straight time as he bested Darrell Delnero and Rob Stump in the 12 lap
event. The 15 lap Outlaw Stock feature saw Rich Mongeau win for the
first time. Chris Pidgeon and Doug DeBray finished a close second and
third.

In
the Advantage Financial/Cradle Rock Developers Rookie Sportsman
series, Bobby Sandt Jr. has turned it on late in the series as he won
for the second straight week. Rob Stump, who has only won once,
finished in second and took the series point lead with just one race
remaining. Two-time winner Gabe Fox was third. Just 6 points
separate the top three drivers for the 2008 Rookie Championship with
just one race to go.

Next
Saturday night, June 28th, it will be Graduation Night at New Egypt
Speedway sponsored by K & A Excavating and Agin Signs. Headlining
the card will be the final event of the Advantage Financial/Cradle
Rock Developers Rookie Sportsman series, a 12-lap double point affair.
There will also be a full card of big-block Modifieds, Sportsman,
Super Stocks, SS Sprints and the first ever appearance of the Tobias
Speedsters. As an added attraction, the rained out Super Stock feature
from May 3rd will also be run. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with first
green at 5:30 pm. For more information, call the speedway office at
