Tanner
& Hoffman Split New Egypt Medal of Honor 20’s
New Egypt, NJ (May 24, 2008) – Tim Tanner Jr. of Ivyland, PA and
Keith Hoffman of Whitehall, PA shared the spotlight on Saturday night
at New Egypt Speedway as the pair each grabbed their first victory of
the season in the “Medal of Honor Twin 20’s” presented by Joy
Auto Parts. Tanner was the class of the field in the first event, driving from tenth starting spot to the lead by halfway and easily
going on to take his 8th career Modified win at the track. In the
nightcap, Hoffman was equally impressive as he hit the setup perfectly
and then withstood a late race challenge from Rick Laubach and a left
rear tire going flat to post his 23rd career victory. The win moved Hoffman into sole possession of third place on the NES all time win
list.

"We hit the setup
perfectly," stated Tanner in victory lane, "The track crew
did a tremendous job to fix the problems this week. It was just the
way we like it and the car responded. Hopefully we can get on a roll
from here." The NES track crew worked around the clock this past
week to correct the conditions from last week and it resulted in a
smooth and very fast surface. Hoffman echoed Tanner’s praise. “The
track was great tonight.” exclaimed Hoffman, “Thankfully we had
enough air in this tire to make it to the finish, from the looks of it
I don’t think we would have made another lap.”
In the opening 20 lapper, Tanner started tenth and quickly charged
thru the field. Once in front, he set a blistering pace that saw his
competitors struggle just to keep up. A late race caution proved to be
no big deal for tanner as he easily pulled away from the field to
record the victory. Sam Martz was also very fast in this event, but was no match for Tanner and settled for second. Two time winner Billy
Pauch finished third, trailed by Rick Laubach and Kenny Meisner.

The second 20 saw Keith Hoffman
get to the front quickly and open a comfortable lead. However, over
the final 4 laps, Rick Laubach chased down Hoffman and began to apply
the pressure as Hoffman’s tire was slowly going down. Hoffman’s
tire and luck held out as he beat laubach to the line by just a car
length. Dominick Buffalino ran a strong race to finish in the third
position followed by last week’s winner Ron John Koczon and Tad
Cox.

John McClelland of Martinsville, NJ picked up his first victory of
2008 as he held off longtime friend and point leader Willie Osmun.
McClelland ran a smooth, fast line to take the win in the regularly
scheduled 20 lap A1 Racing Products Sportsman feature event. Osmun was
second with Ryan Forte, Ray Woodall and Rich Scagliotta rounding out
the top five.

The postponed Sportsman feature
from May 3rd was also run at the beginning of the show, and Rich
Scagliotta of Bound Brook, NJ ended a year and a half dry spell by winning his first feature of the season. Scagliotta continues to be
the all time leading Sportsman feature winner at NES now with 21
career victories. John Stangle finished a strong second with Rocco
Infante continuing to finish in the top five coming home third. Fourth
was Chris Lane and Danny Bouc crossed the line in fifth.
Rob Ormsbee of Howell, NJ claimed his 18th career feature win in the
20 lap Super Stock feature event, his first since 2005. With 5 laps to
go, Ormsbee was running third and watching a crowd pleasing battle for
the win between all time leading feature winner Billy Bauer and
defending champion George Quinlan. However on lap 16 Bauer broke the
motor and brought out the caution. Ormsbee used the restart to his
advantage to get by Quinlan and record the win. Quinlan settled for
the runner-up spot, with Jason Bubeck third, Todd Cray fourth and Bill
Liedtka completing the top five.

In the fifth event of the 2008
Advantage Financial/Cradle Rock Developers Rookie Sportsman series,
Chris Allen, Jr. won his first race in the 8 lap feature event. Last
week’s winner Kevin Vaclavicek lead most of the race before settling
for second, while Andrew Visinski came home third.

Richie Cass Sr. made his first
start of the 2008 season in the 10 lap Crate-1 Sportsman feature and
made it a victorious one. Cass bested a 10 car field that saw Rookie
Gabe Fox finish second and George Idell third.
Next Saturday night, May 31, Carefree Bus Tours presents the first
appearance of the ARDC Midgets. The racing will also feature a full
card of Big-Block Modifieds, A1 Racing Sportsman, Super Stocks, Outlaw
Stocks & Rookies. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with the first race
starting at 5:30 pm. For more information, call the speedway
