Godown Sweeps Up in New Egypt Twin 20’s
New Egypt, NJ (August 25, 2012) – Ryan
Godown of Ringoes, NJ swept up at the New Egypt Speedway Saturday
Night. No, He did not take a job on the cleaning crew, but he did win
both ends of the Modified Twin 20 lap feature events sponsored by
National Parts Peddlers. Godown overcame a first lap tangle in the
first event that caused enough damage to require two trips to the pit
area, driving from the rear of the field to win the first feature over
David Van Horn. Then in the nightcap Godown fell backward to 13th spot
before he got going as he caught and passed leader Billy Pauch Jr.
with three laps to go to pick up the sweep. Godown padded his point
lead on a night when each divisional point leader won their respective
features.

Godown tangled on the first lap of the first event, going to the pits
two times for repairs and adjustments. Once he was back on the track,
he charged thru the field with Mike Iles getting to fifth with five
laps remaining. Race long leader David Van Horn looked tough but
Godown was hooked up on the outside and ws just too strong as he took
the lead in the final laps to post his 5th win of the year. Van Horn
came home second, followed by Ron John Koczon in third, Iles fourth
and Sammy Piazza completing the top five.
In the second 20 lap
feature, pole sitter Billy Pauch Jr. controlled most of the event as
he appeared to be the fastest car in the field. Godown started 10th,
and fell back to 13th before his charge to the front began around lap
5. The track had changed since the first 20 lapper and Godown changed
with it going to the far inside lane, again the opposite of everyone
else, and charged to the front. Godown slid under leader Pauch Jr.
with just 3 laps remaining and cruised to the 20th win of his career,
only the 5th driver to ever reach that mark at New Egypt Speedway.

Clay Butler of Milford, NJ won his second feature of the year at New
Egypt in the Sportsman 20 lap feature. Butler grabbed the lead from
leader Kevin Vaclavicek and then held off a late race challenge from
3-time defending champ Rocco Infante to win his second of the year.
Vaclavicek settled for third followed by Bob Lineman Jr. and Rich
Rutski.

Dan Collamer of Waretown, NJ won the 20 lap Outlaw Stock feature.
Collamer had the lead by lap 2, but then had to hold off John
Carpenter for the remaining 18 laps to record the victory. Billy
Wroble had a nice run to finish a close third, with Doug Debray and
Bill Liedtka fourth and fifth and also right with the leaders in an
exciting race to the finish.
The annual Powder Puff races for
the ladies were held with Laura Liedl (Modifieds), Kristina Pratt
(Sportsman) and Dayna Ewan (Outlaw Stock) winning their events.
Next Saturday night, Sept. 1, New Egypt Speedway presents
