Laubach Rebounds from Last to Win New
Egypt
New Egypt, NJ (June 12, 2010)
– Rick Laubach of Hellertown, PA drove to his third win of the season
in the 30-lap Modified feature on Saturday night, sponsored by C&M
Automotive Warehouse. Laubach rebounded back from an early race trip
to the pits by charging thru the field, passing leader Johnny Guarino
with only five laps remaining. Once in front Laubach never looked back
as he posted the eighth win of his career at NES.

"We were fortunate tonight that we were able to come thru that mess in
turn two with minimal damage," stated Laubach referring to an early
race pile-up, "We have had a lot of things go wrong lately, and
tonight was one of those races where something that went wrong caused
us to go right!" Ryan Forte charged out in front
of the 27 car field at the drop of the green and led until the first
yellow of the event came out a few laps later when a large pileup in
the middle of the pack occurred in turn two. Five cars were left
tangled together with countless others involved and needing minor
repairs, one of which was Laubach. This crash ended the night for
former champs Jimmy Horton and Keith Hoffman along with Frank Cozze
Jr. Once the track was cleared Ryan Forte was back on top and pulling
away from his brother Mark Forte Jr. who was now running second.
Johnny Guarino was quickly advancing to the front along with Billy
Pauch and just before halfway the duo got by leader Forte and began
battling for the lead. Guarino was fast again on this night as he
pulled away from Pauch. Meanwhile, Laubach was charging back from the
rear of the field and was up to fourth with 10 laps to go. Three laps
later he moved into third and was about to challenge runner-up Pauch
when suddenly Pauch pulled to a stop in turn four with a shredded
right rear tire. The restart saw Laubach waste no time as began to
challenge Guarino for the top spot, and it only took him 2 laps to
find the opening he was looking for as he drove by for the lead and
never looked back. For the second time in a month Guarino settled for
second to Laubach as he continues to impress. Frank Cozze came on
strong in the closing laps to finish third while last week’s winner
Tim Tanner Jr. grabbed his second straight top five finish with fourth
and Ryan Forte completed a nice run coming home fifth.

Defending Sportsman champion Rocco Infante of Robbinsville, NJ chased
his nephew DJ Ruppert until the final lap, when he raced underneath in
turn two for his second win of the season and his fourth straight
finish in the top two, padding his division point lead. Ruppert, the
2009 NES Rookie Champ, has been very fast this year and finally posted
his best ever finish as the runner-up. Asphalt Modified standout Jimmy
Blewett finished third in only his third start as he continues to
impress his fans with his fast & smooth style on the clay. George
Quinlan and Clay Butler rounded out the top five in the 20-lap event.

John Carpenter of Howell, NJ posted his first ever win at New Egypt
Speedway taking top honors in the 20-lap Outlaw Stock nightcap.
Carpenter passed leader Dan Collamer just after halfway while running
three-wide for the lead with PJ Oliver. Carpenter then had to hold off
Oliver in the closing laps to add his name to the NES win list.
Oliver, who had won the last two races, settled for second chased
across the line by Collamer, defending champ Shanon Mongeau and 2008
champ Rich Mongeau.

In the Advantage Financial/Cradle Rock Developers Rookie Sportsman
series, Bill Lester won his fourth race of the season and padded his
Rookie point lead with just two races remaining. Lester passed early
leader Joe Dill with three laps remaining to get the victory. Dill had
his best finish so far in second and three-time winner Dave Damiano
was third.
