Laubach
Picks Up Where He Left Off in New Egypt Tri-Track Event
New
Egypt, NJ (April 17, 2010)
– Rick Laubach of Hellertown, PA continued his dominance of the
Tri-Track Series at New Egypt Speedway Saturday night as he captured
the 40 lap Series event, sponsored by Roemer Paintless Dent
Repair. Laubach, the defending NES champion and 2-time defending
Tri-Track Series champ held off perennial NES winner Billy Pauch for
all 40 laps to claim his sixth career win at the New Jersey oval.

"This
is awesome!," exclaimed Laubach in victory lane, "We like to
chase and run the big paying shows when we can, and when they have one
at your home track it is great to be able to take advantage of
it."
Laubach
started 2nd by the luck of the draw and wasted no time as he charged
to the lead at the drop of the green. However, winning this event was
anything but easy for him as Billy Pauch had drawn fourth starting
spot and was right on his bumper from the outset. Laubach seemed to
have Pauch covered in the early going, but a 16-lap green flag period
before halfway found Pauch really starting to apply the pressure in
lapped traffic. New track regular David Van Horn looked strong in his
first NES outing of the year as he ran down the top 2 NES chauffeurs
during this run, trailed by Dominick Buffalino and Ryan Watt. When not
watching the battle for the lead, most eyes were focused on former
track champions Jimmy Horton and Frank Cozze, as they made some
exciting moves thru traffic as they charged from the back. Horton’s
great run from 13th starting spot would end on lap 32 when he coasted
to a stop in turn 4 while running fifth. Cozze started 21st and was in
the top ten just 10 laps into the event and seemed to be one of the
fastest cars on the track as he ran the far outside of the
multi-grooved racing surface. Up front, Laubach survived two late race
cautions and proved he had the best car on this night as he raced
under the checkered 5 car lengths ahead of Pauch. Van Horn had a solid
first run coming home third, while Ryan Watt was steady again
finishing fourth for the second straight season in this event.
Cozze’s great run resulted in a nice fifth place finish after
winning the B-Main in the tough 41 car field. Ken Carberry beat out
Tim Tanner Jr. after a hard fought late race battle for sixth.
Rounding out the top ten were Richie Pratt Jr., Buffalino and
Bridgeport Tri-Track winner Wade Hendrickson.

Kevin
Vaclavicek of New Egypt, NJ started 2010 off in fine style as he
picked up his first ever career win in the 20-lap companion Sportsman
event. Vaclavicek held off several different challenges, the last from
former multi-winner Mike Lyons to pick up the victory. Mike Howardson
added yet another top five finish to his resume as he chases after the
Sportsman title this year finishing third. After a stint in the Middle
East with the military last season, Clay Butler made his return to
racing a successful one as he came home 4th and Chad Barney rounded
out the top five.

2008
champ Rich Mongeau of Manchester, NJ looked strong in the Outlaw Stock
season opener. Mongeau ran down and passed leader Johnny Carpenter
with just 3 laps remaining to post his seventh career win. Carpenter
settled for second followed by early leader PJ Oliver, Jason Saredy
and defending champ Shanon Mongeau.

In
the 2010 opener of the Advantage Financial/Cradle Rock Developers
Rookie Sportsman series, Jarrett Rozycki of Flemington, NJ won the 8
lap feature event in his first ever start in a Sportsman. Bill Lester
was second and Dave Damiano was third.
