New Egypt, NJ (June 10, 2016) – At New Egypt Speedway’s Topless Thursday event, Chad Boespflug topped the field to take the USAC Wingless Sprint Car feature. Ryan Godown scored the victory in the Burlington County Overhead Door NEWS Sprints feature.

As the 30-lap USAC Wingless Sprint Car feature got underway, polesitter CJ Leary bolted to the front with Chad Boespflug in second. Just after Brady Bacon scooted by Robert Ballou for third place, Jarett Andretti stopped in turn three to bring out the first caution flag of the contest. When green flag racing resumed, Leary was still in front with Boespflug battling hard for the lead. On the fifth circuit, Boespflug worked his way around Leary to take the lead. One lap later, Bacon and Ballou would motor past Leary to gain second and third place respectively. The second and final yellow flag of the contest waved on the seventh circuit for Isaac Chapple. On the ensuing restart, Boespflug stayed atop of the pack with Bacon, Ballou and Leary in tow. Bryan Clauson moved closer to the front when he sent Leary back to fifth place with eleven laps completed. On the next circuit, Ballou blasted by Bacon to take over the runner-up spot. With the pacesetting Boespflug about to encounter traffic, Clauson continued his charge by passing Bacon for third place on the sixteenth lap. By lap 20, Boespflug was in the midst of slower competitors and Ballou was closing in on him. Three tours later, Boespflug and Ballou were racing side by side in heavy traffic with Boespflug fending off Ballou to keep his advantage. With five laps remaining, Ballou was still close as Boespflug had a brief respite from lap traffic. On the twenty-eighth lap, Boespflug was again in heavy traffic and Ballou was narrowing the gap. Although Ballou challenged very hard in the final lap, Boespflug was able to fend off his rival to claim the victory. With Ballou taking second, Clauson finished in third. Bacon came home in fourth with Leary completing the race in fifth. Clauson was the fastest qualifier in time trials. The victors of the USAC Wingless Sprint Car heat races were Mark Smith, Dave Darland and Chris Windom. Bacon won the B-Main contest.

Ryan Godown, who was competing for the first time in the Burlington County Overhead Door NEWS Sprints class, took home the winner’s check in the 20-lap feature. Godown took the lead from Lou Cicconi on the twelfth circuit. Cicconi was able to fend off Bobby Butler on the final tour to finish in second. With Butler completing the race in third, Brian Spencer was fourth and Johnny Cornell was fifth. Cicconi and Godown were victorious in the Burlington County Overhead Door NEWS Sprints qualifying races.
