Mother Nature Shuffles Final Point Races of Season at New Egypt
Speedway
New Egypt,
NJ (September 24, 2012) – New Egypt Speedway’s second half of
2012 season has been plagued by rainouts and inclement weather which
have shuffled the racing schedule around on a continued basis starting
back as far as July. This past weekend, the ARDC midgets, TSRS 305
sprint cars, and the big block modifieds were all set to thrill the fans
at NES. Unfortunately, heavy thunderstorms arrived shortly after the
traveling midget series had just finished their extremely exciting main
event. The modified and sprint car features were postponed to this
coming Saturday, September 29. The Rislone URC Sprints were originally
scheduled to make their second appearance of the year at New Egypt on
September 29. Due to the rescheduled events from last weekend, track
management has regrettably decided to cancel the URC portion from this
coming Saturday’s racing card. “It was a tough decision to make but, the
weather has really hurt us over the past two months,” offered track
manager Danny Serrano. “We talked to Bob Miller and URC this morning and
they completely understood our situation which is all you can ask for.
The URC sprints put on a great show when they are in town and we will
try to make it up to Bob and the club next season,” Serrano added.
Originally the modifieds were scheduled to compete in ‘Twin 20s’
this coming Saturday to decide the 2012 championship. The ‘Twin 20’
format has been scrapped and replaced with a traditional 30-lap feature
that will carry double points. The modified lineup is set for the first
30-lap event which will be held earlier in the evening before going into
the regularly scheduled heat races for the night’s second 30 lap race.
Ryan Godown currently leads last week’s winner Willie Osmun, Ron John
Koczon, Tad Cox, and defending track champion Billy Pauch. In an event
of another weather related postponement, the same format will be held on
Saturday, October 13th during Rocktoberfest.
The TSRS 305 Sprints
will follow the same format as the big blocks. Their held over 20-lap
feature will take place early Saturday evening. The a complete show of
heat races followed by a second 20-lap encore will round out the TSRS
racing season at NES.
The Outlaw Stocks will still be a part of
the show on Saturday. However, there will be no qualifying for the
25-lap feature. All starting positions will be based on a pill draw
prior to the race.
Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with the first race
starting at 6:00 pm. For more information, call the speedway office at
