The
SS Sprints are back at New Egypt Speedway!
June
2, 2009 -
After working with the staff at New Egypt Speedway, we've put together
a nice program for the SS Sprints for the remainder of the 2009
season. It is important that if you have a car, THAT YOU SUPPORT THIS
PROGRAM. We need your support to make this work! If you're a fan, and
you like the show, be sure and tell Bill, Fred, and Danny that
you want the SS Sprints back and like the show!
If you plan on competiting, you need to call the track ASAP to
register and get the details of admission prices and the details
concerning admission for you and your crew.
The details of the show:
1. Outlaw style 2 lap single car time trials will determine the start
of the feature. An invert pill will be drawn for the first 10 lap
segment of the feature at the conclusion of time trials.
2. At the conclusion of the 1st 10 lap segment, the red will be flown.
The winner will stop at the flag stand and draw an invert pill between
1 and 5 to determine the starting positions of the second segment of
the feature. The rest of the field will park in turn 3/4 while this
happens.
3. Winner of segment 2 will be deemed the winner of the feature, scale
at a minimum of 1800lbs, and go to victory lane.
We decided to mix this up a bit from the traditional 20 lap feature.
We will try it the first week. If it does not work out well, or the
single car time trials take too long, we will go back to last year's
format of timed dashes. Total time for the feature even cannot exceed
25 minutes.
4. No purse will be paid by the track. They will provide trophies only
to the winner. There will be an optional gambler's race in which each
car will contribute $40 to a pot. Money will be paid out to the top
1/2 of the field who contributes. If you do not contribute, you do not get
paid. We have several potential sponsors who are willing to
contribute cash based upon which position or goal they desire (most
cars passed, etc).
5. Open American Racer tire rule. There will be no stamped NES tires.
You may run any 104in. RR American Racer. Hoosiers will be permitted
for the first week only.
6. NES 2008 rules apply. Basically, PA Tour rules with mufflers. All
cars must be teched for safety and have a NES 2009 sticker on them
before hitting the track.
7. Tech will be self administered. I'm hoping we don't have to get
crazy on this.
8. No points fund or handicapping will take place. Each week is a
fresh start.
TENTATIVE DATES-
June 13th-PRACTICE-There will be three extended practice sessions-most
likely one right at the end of regular warm ups, one before
intermission, and one after the last feature.
June 20th-1st race date!

July 25th
August 15th
August 22nd
September 5th
September 12th
Guys, I cannot stress the point that if you have a car, you need to
get it out on the track and support the class and the effort to
restart this class. We can all complain about this or that, but in the
end of the day this is a way to get out on the track, race, have fun,
and put a good show on for the fans who want wings at NES. I've worked
hard to make this happen, so please, get out in the garage and get
your car ready.
Once again, YOU NEED TO CALL THE TRACK ASAP FOR THE DETAILS OF
ADMISSION ASAP.
If you have any other questions, or need help in any way, email me at stocker1042@hotmail.com
and I will do the best that I can to help you out.
Hope to see you all on the 13th and again on the 20th!
